For the technically inclined here is some information on how to customise PodSweat:
How to create your own voice files
PodSweat creates voice instruction files by concatenating individual voice files together to create one large voice file that gets downloaded to your MP3 player. If you don't like the (female Australian) voice supplied with PodSweat you can record and use your own.
Individual voice files are stored in the \voice directory, with exercise names stored under \voice\exercise directory. These files are stored as 16bit 16KHz PCM WAV files.
To replace the existing PodSweat voice files with your own recorded files, simply overwrite the PodSweat supplied WAV files with your own WAV files. However, the WAV files MUST be in the same 16bit 16KHz PCM WAV file format. The author recommends use of the Switch converter which will be able to create the correct format for you. You can overwrite just one file, or all of the files.
Adequate silence space should be added to the beginning and end of each WAV file as your needs dictate. PodSweat does not add its own silence delays.
All WAV files should be normalised for 100% peak volume, this is to ensure a consistent and adequate volume level. The author recommends the use of this normaliser program.
Sharing of these voice files with the PodSweat community is encouraged! Contact the author for details on how to get your files added to this website so others can download them and benefit.
How to Add new Exercises
Want to create a list of exercises for the specific equipment at your gym? It's easy!
Exercise names are stored in standard ASCII text files in the \exercise directory. When PodSweat is started the program will search for all files with a .LST file extension. These files are read and the contents added to the PodSweat Exercise selection screen. You can create your own .LST files with Windows Notepad or other text editor, and you can also modify the included files.
Each exercise name in the file should have a corresponding WAV voice file of the exact same name in the \voice\exercise directory. If a corresponding WAV voice file is not found then the program will use the internal computer voice generator and create the file for you. This voice file will however sound very robotic-like, and won't be as nice as a proper human voice file.
